WHY I LIKE GEOCACHING

Why I like geocaching

There are many reasons why I love geocaching but I have narrowed it down to 7 different reasons these are;

Communication and socialization

Geocaching is a great way to meet new people who have the same or similar interests and because so many people do geocaching there are no limits to the amount of friends you can make through geocaching.  The main point is you can make geocaching as social as you want. You can go off on your own on a walk or a few cache and dashes or you can Go to all the event caches and only do the odd traditional cache. This is not only about meeting new people it helps with confidence of everyone.

Nature and wildlife

Before I did geocaching I used to go on many walks, yes I did enjoy walking but I didn’t fell although I was getting anything out of it but now I go geocaching on walks it makes the walk all the more worthwhile and just makes the whole experience much more enjoyable.

Technology

GPSR is the key device in geocaching and is a very power full piece of equipment and people of all ages no matter what. GPS technology is growing rapidly and the science behind it is incredible and not only is GPS used for serious and necessary jobs it is open of the whole of the world to have fun in the field finding plastic boxes. The cost of the technology can be as much as you want. Anybody can afford to do geocaching.

Helping others

Geocaching is all about the community doing something for someone else enjoyment. When planting a geocache you are opening it up to thousands of people to go out and have a good time. You can also help other people who cannot do something and they can repay the favour. For example, if you go geocaching with a child, they can get a geocache that is in hard spot to get to and if they couldn’t reach a geocache you could get it for them, just small things make a big different when helping others.

Variety  

No matter how hard you try you will never find a geocache in the exact same place and the exact same hide. There are more than a million geocaches in the world and it is always a great experience for everyone. Yes, some are better than others but every geocache you find puts a smile on my face when I have the logbook in my hand.

Creating a geocache

I love making geocaches just as much as I love finding a cache and experimenting with all different containers and something that will make people enjoy a cache just that extra bit more. Also you learn so much when creating a geocache and it gives you a way to show people your own little creation. Also it is much better when creating a geocache with others, as with everything.

First To Find

I love First To Finds. It makes geocaching all that more fun when you are walking through a field with only a Torch, Gps and a Pen.  When rushing to be FTF it’s a great experience and makes you much more confidence walking into the unknown in the dark….. The feeling when you open a geocache and seeing a nice clean empty log sheet is undesirable. On the other hand when opening a geocache and you have been beaten to it make you try harder next time to try and beat your time and others. It also adds a bit of competition without being serious.

There is much more I enjoy I bout geocaching but I cannot type everything.
